Michael Norman Gute is an award winning artist combining painting, drawing, abstraction, and representation to build energetic and raw bodies of work. His practice is improvisational and embracing of process and time. The role of the artist is steeped in intuition, carrying out the will of the materials. His approach reveals a growing personal iconography.
Gute holds a baccalaureate degree in painting and art history from Kendall College of Art & Design, and two graduate degrees: a master’s in historic preservation & museum administration from Eastern Michigan University, and a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University.
