The Artist

Michael Norman Gute is an award-winning artist investigating liminal states between growth and decay, reality and illusion, and past and present. Working intuitively, he treats materials as active collaborators. His improvisational approach to painting, drawing, and mark-making builds in layers—like memory—revealing a distinct and evolving personal iconography.

Gute holds a baccalaureate degree in painting and art history from Kendall College of Art & Design, and two graduate degrees: a master’s in historic preservation & museum administration from Eastern Michigan University, and a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University. He is a certified fundraising executive who has earned a reputation as a speaker, successful entrepreneur, and advocate.
